Neither the article nor the PDF file listed in the article show specifics on why the lien was placed.

This matters how? I think her life as she knew it is over. If by some miracle she is set free, she would probably be happy to have a small apartment overlooking a garbage dump. Just so she's free. But if she did the deed, may God have mercy on her.

You are correct. Her life is over, as she knew it. Her child, very tragically, is gone. Her family (whether or not they are guilty) have been publicly humiliated by her. If she is innocent, the time spent in jail can never be recovered.

The lien has me very curious. What income was earned that would have generated this??? If by some miracle she is set free during this trial, the legal action for this lien would come next and I don't think that she would be going anywhere. Do you???

Chefaz, Thanks for posting on the group.

This article has me curious too. Something is weird about this. The lien address is Jose Baez's address. Wierd.

I'm pretty sure that it is not unusual to use an attorney's address when the recipient of a lien is incarcerated. Past that, I'm not getting this. Glad that I'm not the only one finding this situation odd. :)

That sounds about right for the money she got for selling pictures to ABC, which was reportedly over $200k. That would be considered income and it was in 2008.

Ha...got my detective hat on! According to this calculator her taxable income on $200,000 as a single taxpayer would be almost $52k and around $68k for $250,000. I have heard both amounts. With penalties for non-payment during 2008-2011, the amount makes sense. The IRS penalties are outrageous.

I just wonder why Jose Baez did not take care of that. Surely as a lawyer he must have known that that was taxable income. The money went reportedly to pay for her defense and she was already in jail when the pictures were sold. I imagine she signed the check and he took care of the rest...but why not pay the taxes?! Maybe he figured she would not get out of jail and why bother paying it..Ha ha
